Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration in Ekiti State has prioritized youth development through innovative policies and initiatives aimed at empowering young people and unlocking their potential.
Recognizing the critical role of youth in societal advancement, Governor Oyebanji separated the Ministry of Youth from Sports to create an independent platform for youth-focused initiatives.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Gold Adesola Adedayo, the administration has launched programs such as the “Youth Let’s Talk with BAO,” fostering dialogue between the governor and young people to address challenges and provide tailored solutions.
In the area of job creation, over 20,000 youths have been employed across various sectors, including civil service, commercial farming, and entrepreneurship.
The establishment of the Youth Resource/Job Centre, bursary and scholarship enhancements, and partnerships with organizations like WEMA Bank and the Industrial Training Fund have further empowered youths with skills and opportunities.
Key initiatives include the Adire Ekiti Hub, which has trained 1,000 youths in fabric-making, and the Ekiti Broiler Production Scheme.
The administration has also strengthened the Youth Parliament and improved infrastructure, such as the construction of facilities at the NYSC camp in Emure Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji’s youth agenda is fostering inclusivity, opportunity, and growth, positioning Ekiti State as a beacon of youth-driven development.
