Governor Lawal Advocates Rule of Law, Receives NBA Legacy Award

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has underscored the importance of technical expertise, moral courage, and integrity in upholding the rule of law.

Speaking as the guest of honor at the 2024 Annual Law Week organized by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gusau branch, he commended the legal profession’s critical role in fostering justice and democracy.

The event, themed “Upholding the Rule of Law: A Tool for Democratic Development,” brought together legal practitioners to explore ways to strengthen democracy and accountability.

Governor Lawal described the theme as timely, emphasizing the legal profession’s pivotal role in promoting equity and justice.

During the occasion, the NBA Gusau branch honored Lawal with the “Icon of Legacy and Impact” award, presented by Chairman Mu’azu Ahmad.

In his acceptance speech, the governor praised the NBA for its dedication to justice and urged its members to uphold ethical standards.

“I commend the Nigerian Bar Association for its relentless efforts in championing justice and the rule of law.

Your commitment serves as a beacon of hope and strengthens our collective resolve to uphold democracy,” he stated.

Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and tackling insecurity in Zamfara State.

He also called for continuous professional development in the legal field, encouraging innovation and adaptability in addressing the evolving challenges of justice delivery.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition of his administration’s achievements in security, infrastructure, and governance, Lawal attributed these successes to the collective dedication of his team.

He officially declared the 2024 Law Week open, wishing participants fruitful deliberations.

The event showcased the critical intersection of governance, legal advocacy, and the broader quest for a just and democratic society.
