Residents of Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for spearheading transformative rural development projects in the area.

They commended the minister’s efforts for significantly enhancing their socio-economic well-being.

Key projects include the construction of the nine-kilometer Paikon Kore–Ibwa road and the rehabilitation of the Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road.

Residents have described these initiatives as “life-changing,” highlighting their role in boosting development and easing rural living conditions.

According to Ibrahim Makeri, the Paikon Kore–Ibwa road has revolutionized agricultural activities by eliminating the seasonal flooding that once cut off communities during the rainy season.

He appealed for the extension of the road beyond Ibwa to connect over 70 additional communities along the corridor.

The projects have also created employment opportunities. Japhet Adamu, Daniel Gaji, and Yahaya Abdullahi were among the 75 locals hired by Setraco Nigeria Ltd for the construction works.

Abdullahi, a Quantity Survey graduate, secured his first major job through the initiative, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Residents’ accolades underscore the transformative impact of Minister Wike’s interventions, which have improved infrastructure, generated economic opportunities, and uplifted rural communities.
