Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced plans to utilize Gurara Waterfalls to generate electricity as part of efforts to boost development in Gurara Local Government Area.

Speaking during a project monitoring visit to Gawu Babangida, the governor highlighted Gurara’s potential as a priority area, emphasizing the benefits the electricity project would bring to the region.

Governor Bago outlined additional initiatives for the local government, including a 5 km township road, a connecting road between Izom and Gwagwalada, a modern trailer park worth N120 million, a Gurara games resort, potable water projects through partnerships, and a green energy park under a tripartite arrangement.

The governor commended Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for his contributions, including plans to establish a mini stadium, a 50-bed healthcare facility, and a skills acquisition center.

Senator Musa assured residents that ongoing road and solar streetlight projects would soon transform Gurara’s infrastructure.

Local leaders, including Deputy Speaker Hon. Afiniki Dauda and Chairman Abdul-Halim Abubakar, thanked Governor Bago for his developmental efforts, while elders appealed for the completion of abandoned projects and the construction of key roads and bridges.

Earlier, the governor inaugurated a reactivated transformer in Lambata, urging residents to safeguard the infrastructure.
