In a move to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), the Presidential CNG Initiative (PiCNG) has launched a free registration and conversion exercise for 5,000 commercial vehicles in Abuja.

During an on-site inspection at Galadimawa Roundabout Park on Thursday, the PiCNG’s Program Director, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi monitored the progress of the exercise.

Engr. Oluwagbemi encouraged commercial drivers to take full advantage of the initiative, which is aimed at actualizing this “Renewed Hope Agenda”.

He emphasized that switching to CNG offers significant cost savings and economic benefits, positioning the fuel as a viable alternative to petrol.

Engr. Oluwagbemi explained that that the initiative is not just about conversion; but about transforming the economy by reducing transportation costs and fuel dependency.

Joining him was the Publisher of ‘Abuja City Journal’, Mr. Folusho Silvanus, who underscored the media’s role in raising awareness about CNG adoption.

Beneficiaries of the program expressed their gratitude, highlighting the relief of having access to a cleaner, cheaper fuel option.

Many pledged to spread the good news, ensuring more commercial drivers embrace the government-backed CNG transition.

With 5,000 registrations targeted, PiCNG continues to drive the shift towards a sustainable and economically viable transport sector in Nigeria.
