In a move to advance Nigeria’s energy transition, the Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), and Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacchaeus Adedeji, today hosted a strategic meeting with Maj. Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka, Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, and Engr. Michael Okuwagbemi, Program Director/Chief Executive of PCNGI.
The high-level discussion centered on assessing the success of the Nigerian Army’s pilot program on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), usage and outlining expansion strategies for broader military adoption, in line with the Presidential directive.
With Nigeria’s push for cleaner, cost-effective, and energy-efficient solutions, the military’s transition to CNG is poised to enhance operational efficiency while reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels.
The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable energy adoption across key sectors, with the Nigerian Army playing a pivotal role in the initiative’s expansion.
As discussions progress, stakeholders remain optimistic that the implementation of CNG in military logistics and transportation will not only cut costs but also align with Nigeria’s broader energy security and environmental sustainability goals.
