Dr. Ejike Oji, Chairman of the Association for the Advancement of Family Planning in Nigeria, has emphasized that family planning is essential to tackling multidimensional poverty in the country.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Oji highlighted that proper childbearing and spacing enable families to provide better healthcare, education, and living conditions.
He linked the rise in insecurity to unplanned births, arguing that children born into hardship are more vulnerable to crime and insurgency.
With over 133 million Nigerians living in multidimensional poverty, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, Oji urged all levels of government to implement policies that promote family planning as a strategy for national development.
