A violent clash between the Owake and Ebo communities in Akoko South West, Ondo State, has left one person dead and several others injured.
The conflict, rooted in a land dispute, escalated on Sunday night, leading to the destruction of homes and the palace of the Asin of Oka-Odo.
The violence erupted after Owake community members installed signposts on disputed land following a court ruling in their favor.
They were ambushed by suspected thugs from Ebo, triggering reprisals that saw properties torched.
Ondo State Police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that security forces, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, had been deployed to restore peace.
Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, urged both communities to resolve their differences peacefully, warning that perpetrators would face justice.
