Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has emphasized that unity remains the only path for Northern Nigeria to overcome its numerous challenges, particularly insecurity.
He made this assertion when he received officials of the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative (NSYEI), at his residence in Minna, Niger State.
The delegation was led by the movement’s Board of Trustees Chairman, former Sokoto State governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, alongside Co-Chairperson Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed and Director-General Dr Abdullahi Idris.
Commending the initiative, Babangida described the birth of the Northern Star movement as timely and commendable, urging its leaders to remain steadfast in their mission to unite the North and Nigeria at large.
“Only through unity can the North surmount its challenges. This movement must remain resolute in its objectives,” he stated.
Earlier, Bafarawa highlighted the group’s mission of fostering unity and advancing the North’s collective interests.
In their remarks, Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed and Dr Abdullahi Idris echoed the importance of regional cohesion, stressing that a united North remains vital for its political and socio-economic advancement within the Nigerian federation.
