Former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged Yoruba monarchs to accommodate all religions in their domains, emphasizing the inclusive nature of Yoruba culture.

Speaking at the turbaning of Mr. Mahmud Adesina (SAN), as the Wazeerul Muslimeen of Ifon-Orolu, Osun State, Aregbesola stated that no true Yoruba king should be exclusively Muslim, Christian, or a traditionalist.

“A Yoruba monarch must engage in all religious practices—whether Egungun festivals, Islamic prayers, or Christian celebrations.

“That is how Almighty God created the Yoruba people,” he said.

Commending the monarchs present, he reiterated that religious inclusivity defines true Yoruba leadership.

In his acceptance speech, Adesina advocated for the establishment of Sharia Courts of Appeal across Nigeria, citing constitutional provisions.

He stressed that while some states have Sharia panels, they lack enforcement powers, which can only be granted through properly established courts as outlined in Sections 275, 276, and 277 of the constitution.
