A New York judge has granted Donald Trump, the U.S. President-elect, an unconditional discharge in the hush money case, ruling that a conviction would undermine the integrity of the presidency.

Presiding over the case, Judge Juan Merchan stated that no further legal penalties were appropriate.

Trump, attending the session virtually, condemned the prosecution as a “disgrace to the system,” insisting it was politically motivated to damage his election bid.

This landmark ruling sets a precedent, marking the first time a sitting or former U.S. president has faced such legal scrutiny while campaigning.

The decision could significantly shape Trump’s political trajectory amid ongoing controversies.
