Nigeria plunged into darkness on Saturday, January 11, as the national grid suffered its first collapse of 2025.
Data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) confirmed the outage at 1:56 p.m., reigniting concerns over the grid’s persistent instability.
This latest failure follows a troubling trend, with at least 12 collapses recorded in 2024. The cause remains undisclosed.
