Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), First Vice President, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, has been discharged from the hospital after surviving a violent robbery attack at his Abuja residence on Tuesday.
The assailants inflicted injuries on Anyansi-Agwu, who was later pictured with a bandaged arm. They also made away with his car, phones, cash, and other valuables.
“Thank you for your concern. I just got home from the hospital. I have people with me now and will speak on the incident later,” he stated.
The Abuja Police Command has launched an investigation to recover the stolen items and apprehend the culprits.
FCT Police PRO, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the attack.
“I spoke with the DPO, who verified the incident. Investigations are ongoing, and updates will be provided in due course,” Adeh said.
Enyimba Chairman and football legend, Kanu Nwankwo, condemned the attack and urged security agencies to act swiftly.
“This is deeply disturbing. Anyansi-Agwu is a key football figure, and it is heartbreaking that such an incident happened to him.
“I call on security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Kanu said, adding prayers for his recovery and the restoration of his losses.
The NFF leadership, led by President Ibrahim Gusau, also visited Anyansi-Agwu to show solidarity.
“This is a distressing incident. The entire NFF executive committee, management, and staff stand with the Anyansi-Agwu family during this time,” NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said.
