Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has criticized the infrastructural projects championed by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, dismissing road constructions as a misleading measure of development.

Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Friday, Dalung also took a swipe at Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s claim that Abuja now looks like London, stating that his own area in the FCT does not reflect such an image.

Dalung argued that true development should focus on essential services like water supply, education, and healthcare, which remain inadequate in the FCT.

“It’s unfair to celebrate road constructions in a city where residents rely on boreholes, schools are in disarray, and hospitals function like transit camps,” he said.

He further emphasized that road projects do not impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“How many poor Nigerians own cars? Roads don’t directly improve their well-being,” he stated, warning against prioritizing elite-centric projects over the needs of the masses.
