A Lagos teacher, Stella Nwadigbo, has pleaded not guilty to assault charges after allegedly striking a three-year-old student at Christ Mitot School, Ikorodu.
Appearing before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Nwadigbo was charged with grievous bodily harm by the Lagos State Police Command, following a viral video of the alleged incident on January 7.
Prosecutor ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the footage showed Nwadigbo hitting the child while attempting to teach him numbers, raising concerns over teacher conduct and child safety.
Charged under Sections 135 and 172 of the Lagos State Criminal Law (2015), Nwadigbo was granted ₦200,000 bail by Chief Magistrate O. Kushanu, with two sureties required.
The case has been adjourned to February 18 for further proceedings.
