Former Oyo State Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan has finally spoken out about his dramatic July 18, 2022, impeachment, branding the process a “kangaroo” trial fueled by conspiracies within Governor Seyi Makinde’s inner circle.

In an explosive interview, Olaniyan admitted to “irreconcilable differences” with Makinde but insisted that his removal was orchestrated by political backstabbers who saw him as a threat.

“He knew I wasn’t a bad man, but some people were determined to kick me out,” he revealed, adding that “Some even told me to my face!”

Olaniyan, who was impeached over insubordination, gross misconduct, and financial impropriety, dismissed the allegations as fabricated excuses to tarnish his reputation.

“In this country, when you want to destroy someone, you first give them a bad name,” he said, rejecting claims of financial mismanagement, saying “It was never about money for me.”

Despite his unceremonious exit, Olaniyan harbors no resentment toward Makinde.

“I have no regrets. I’ve never spoken ill of him, and when we meet, I still show him respect,” he stated.

His revelations expose the power struggles and betrayal that led to his downfall, offering a rare glimpse into the murky world of Oyo State politics.
