Police in Ogun State have discovered the decomposing body of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, in her apartment on Shittu Street, Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta.
The discovery was made late Monday night after the landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, reported a foul odor emanating from her locked apartment.
Concerned about her welfare, he alerted the Kemta Divisional Police, who arrived at the scene and forced entry into the apartment.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed that Olusanya’s swollen body was found on her bed, indicating she had been dead for several days.
The cause of death remains uncertain, though authorities suspect suicide.
Efforts to contact her family have so far been unsuccessful.
Due to the risk of infection and a lack of medical equipment, retrieving the body for an autopsy has been challenging.
The police have secured the scene as investigations continue.
This incident comes weeks after a similar case in Abeokuta, where a man, Fatai Hamzat, was found dead in his apartment after allegedly committing suicide.
