President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence in Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Dramani Mahama, describing his leadership as a catalyst for progress and stronger regional ties.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at Black Star Square in Accra on January 7, 2025, Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to working with Ghana for mutual prosperity.

“I have no doubt that President Mahama’s administration will bring positive change and foster prosperity between our two nations,” Tinubu stated.

He emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue in resolving differences and hailed Mahama as a patriotic leader dedicated to his people.

“As your friend and brother, I assure you that Nigeria stands ready to support you. We will work together to advance the well-being of our peoples,” he added.

Tinubu also underscored Ghana’s democratic achievements, calling the inauguration a proud moment for the continent.

Mahama, in his inaugural address, pledged to focus on job creation, infrastructure development, and improvements in education and healthcare.

He also vowed to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions and enhance regional cooperation within ECOWAS.

His victory in the presidential election followed the concession of his main opponent, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

The event, attended by African leaders, diplomats, and international observers, marked another peaceful transition of power in one of Africa’s most stable democracies.
