Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged the Federal Government to reduce the 2025 Hajj fare, making it more affordable for pilgrims amid ongoing economic challenges.
The governor made the call during an event organized by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, where he also addressed the issue of funds refunded by Saudi authorities due to a power outage during the 2023 Hajj.
He expressed gratitude to the Saudi Government for the refund and announced plans to send a letter of appreciation through its consulate in Kano.
Governor Yusuf commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for its transparency in processing the refunds and praised the State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its successful management of the 2024 Hajj.
He emphasized the importance of improving preparations for the 2025 Hajj, following his recent visit to Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj.
Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam, head of the 2024 Kano State Hajj Delegation, also thanked the governor for his continued support, while Laminu Danbaffa, Director-General of the board, confirmed that N375 million had been refunded to pilgrims from the 2023 Hajj
