Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to arrive in Abuja on Wednesday for high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening Nigeria-China relations.
According to the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi will be received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, underscoring the significance of the visit.
On Thursday, January 9, 2025, he will meet with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to discuss key areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, and development projects.
The talks come as China continues to expand its strategic partnerships across Africa.
Wang Yi will also pay a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he is expected to deliver a special message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit reinforces China’s commitment to deepening political and economic ties with Nigeria, further solidifying the country’s role as a key partner in China’s African engagement strategy.
