Residents of Gwarinpa, Abuja, have once again raised concerns over reckless driving following a high-speed crash along 6th Avenue that left one person injured and a vehicle severely damaged.
The accident, which occurred between H-Medix and 7th Avenue, saw a speeding driver lose control, veer off the road, and plunge into a gutter.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as dramatic, with the car momentarily balancing on one tire before slamming into the ground, shattering the front bumper and destroying a front tire.
The vehicle carried two occupants at the time of the incident.
While the passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped with minor injuries thanks to airbag deployment, the driver, who was unrestrained, suffered multiple injuries, including a broken hand and shoulder.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The visibly shaken driver reportedly broke down in tears, lamenting how he would explain the accident to his mother, the car’s owner.
Gwarinpa residents have repeatedly expressed concerns over rising cases of reckless driving, with excessive speeding and disregard for traffic rules leading to frequent accidents.
Many are calling for stricter enforcement measures to prevent further incidents and ensure road safety in the area.
