As the explosion at Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, Bwari Area Council left two dead and two others injured, eyewitnesses have claim a student brought the explosive device to the school.

Demonstrating it to a peer, the explosive detonated raising serious security concerns.

The student holding the device died instantly, while another succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Two others—a girl receiving treatment at Kubwa General Hospital and a boy at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital—were also wounded.

However, FCT Police Spokesperson Josephine Adeh provided a different account, stating that three men, not a student, brought the explosive to the school.

She said two of them died while handling an improvised explosive device (IED), on the school’s veranda, while the third man and a female trader sustained serious injuries.

The FCT Bomb Squad confirmed an IED was involved, recovering remnants from the scene.

Police have taken Mallam Adamu Ashimu, the school owner, into custody for questioning as investigations continue.

FCT Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities.
