Professor Nuhu Yaqub, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), has passed away at a private hospital in Abuja after a brief illness. He was 72.
Born on March 3, 1951, in Okene, Kogi State, Yaqub remained active in academia until his final days.
Just days before his passing, he delivered a keynote address at an event in Okene organized by De Noble Club 10 Kogi Central.
Beyond UNIABUJA, he also served as Vice-Chancellor of Sokoto State University and chaired the Academic Advisory Board of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).
The Director-General of NILDS described his death as a profound loss, highlighting his lasting impact on academia and governance.
