The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has dismissed 27 officers over fraud and professional misconduct, following recommendations from its Staff Disciplinary Committee and approval by Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede.
In a statement on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale reaffirmed the commission’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption, stating that no officer is above scrutiny or disciplinary measures.
Olukoyede also pledged thorough investigations into all allegations, including a $400,000 fraud case involving a Sectional Head, underscoring the EFCC’s commitment to accountability.
Additionally, the commission cautioned the public against impersonators and blackmailers exploiting the chairman’s name for extortion.
It cited the recent arraignment of two suspects, Ojobo Joshua and Aliyu Hashim, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
The duo allegedly attempted to extort $1 million from former Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director, Mohammed Bello-Koko, under false pretenses.
“The public is encouraged to report such schemes,” the EFCC stated, emphasizing that Olukoyede remains immune to monetary influence.
Reiterating its dedication to transparency and justice, the commission urged the public to ignore blackmail attempts and affirmed its unwavering resolve to combat corruption.
