Abuja School Explosion Kills One, Injures Four

An explosion at Tsangayar Sani Uthman Islamic School in Kuchibiyu Community, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, has left one student dead and four others injured.
The incident, which occurred around noon on Monday, triggered panic among students and residents.
Emergency responders, including the police bomb disposal unit, arrived swiftly, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Confirming the incident, John Gabaya, Chairman of Bwari Area Council, stated that the school’s proprietor had recently brought in children from Katsina State for learning.
Gabaya revealed that he had previously reported the school’s activities to the Divisional Police Officer for investigation.
“Yes, there was an explosion at an Islamiyyah school today.
“One student was killed, and four others were injured.
“I don’t know the owner of the school, but he brought in children from Katsina.
“I had already raised concerns with the police before this incident,” Gabaya said.
Though details remain unclear, a security source disclosed that the deceased student was carrying a suspected improvised explosive device (IED), when it detonated.
The blast has thrown the area into panic, prompting a heavy police and bomb squad presence at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has yet to issue an official statement.
Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing.
