A judge has scheduled former President Donald Trump’s sentencing for January 20, 2025, a decision that has sparked controversy and criticism from his representatives.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung condemned the ruling, arguing it contradicts the Supreme Court’s immunity decision and legal precedents.

He described the case as “lawless” and insisted it should be dismissed immediately.

Cheung also maintained that Trump should be allowed to proceed with the presidential transition without legal interference, vowing that the former president would continue to fight the charges.

Beyond this case, Trump is facing two federal cases led by special counsel Jack Smith, which were dismissed due to a Justice Department policy barring the prosecution of a sitting president.

The cases involve allegations of conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election and mishandling classified documents.

Additionally, Trump faces racketeering charges in Georgia over alleged efforts to overturn election results.

However, this case may be paused if he assumes office again.
