Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has visited Dele Farotimi at his Lagos residence following the activist’s release from prison.

In a post on X, Obi described Farotimi, his former campaign spokesperson, as a symbol of courage and resilience.

“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him.

“I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria,” Obi wrote.

Farotimi was detained for 21 days on allegations of defaming senior lawyer Afe Babalola in his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.

He was arrested on December 3, 2024, and later granted bail of ₦30 million on December 24.

During his detention, Obi visited Babalola in Ekiti, sparking speculation about mediation efforts.
