The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), is set to deliver 10 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses to its Oyo State chapter for distribution to other NLC branches in the Southwest.
This initiative aims to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
In a statement, NLC General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, announced that the national leadership and the Central Working Committee (CWC), of the union’s 58 affiliates would attend the official handover ceremony.
The event is scheduled for Friday, January 10 in Ibadan.
Speaking at a press briefing, Oyo State NLC Chairman, Kayode Martins, said Ibadan was chosen as the venue because it serves as the union’s Southwest headquarters.
“We expect political officeholders, government functionaries, and Oyo State residents to attend.
“These CNG buses will enhance transportation in the state,” Martins stated.
He added that all CWC members, including presidents and secretaries of the NLC’s 58 affiliates, would be present.
According to him, the buses will provide relief to workers and the general public, with Governor Seyi Makinde serving as the chief host.
