The Federal Government (FG), has approved a bailout to settle five months of salary arrears for staff of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), covering August to December 2024.

CRFFN’s Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, Comrade Kingsley Igwe, announced the development in his New Year message to maritime stakeholders and staff.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to staff welfare while pledging improved productivity and accountability within the council.

“The Honourable Minister has approved another bailout fund to clear five months’ salary arrears, and arrangements for disbursement are underway,” Igwe said, emphasizing that staff welfare remains a top priority.

The CRFFN, a critical regulatory body in Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sector, has struggled with financial constraints, leading to salary delays and declining morale.

The bailout aims to stabilize operations and restore confidence among employees.

Igwe called on staff to show greater dedication, assuring them that timely salary payments would become standard practice.

“Let us embrace responsibility and work together to achieve remarkable milestones,” he urged.

Maritime stakeholders welcomed the intervention. A senior CRFFN staff member expressed optimism, stating, “This bailout gives us hope for stability and shows the government’s commitment to addressing our concerns.”

The CRFFN’s renewed financial support is expected to boost operational efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s freight forwarding industry as the federal government continues efforts to bolster the maritime sector amid economic challenges.
