The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has invited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to tour the Port Harcourt Refinery to verify its operational status.
The invitation follows Obasanjo’s recent interview with Channels Television, where he referenced Shell Petroleum Development Company’s (SPDC) assessment that the refinery might not function effectively. Obasanjo alleged that SPDC, approached during his administration for equity acquisition in the refinery, had expressed concerns about corruption hindering its operations.
He further accused NNPCL of misleading Nigerians about the refinery’s functionality.
In response, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, extended a respectful invitation to the former president, reiterating the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
