President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to boosting food production, reducing inflation, and strengthening the economy in 2025.

In his New Year message, Tinubu highlighted economic progress in 2024, including declining fuel prices, rising foreign reserves, and a stronger Naira, as indicators of a brighter future.

“Though 2024 posed numerous challenges, I am confident that 2025 will bring brighter days.

“Fuel prices have gradually decreased, foreign trade surpluses were recorded for three consecutive quarters, foreign reserves increased, and the Naira strengthened, ensuring greater stability,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the Nigerian stock market’s record growth generated trillions of naira in wealth, while rising foreign investment reflected renewed confidence in the economy.

However, the President acknowledged persistent challenges, including inflation and high costs of food and essential drugs, pledging to reduce inflation from 34.6% to 15% by increasing food production and promoting local drug manufacturing.

“In 2025, we are determined to lower costs and reduce inflation through reforms that boost local manufacturing and enhance food production.

“With hard work and divine help, we will provide relief for all Nigerians,” Tinubu promised.

He also announced plans to establish the National Credit Guarantee Company to expand access to credit, especially for women and youth, by mid-2025.

The initiative aims to drive economic growth, reindustrialization, and improved living standards.

Calling on state and local governments to align with federal reforms in agriculture and taxation, Tinubu commended governors adopting the Federal Government’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), initiative and integrating electric vehicles into public transportation.

Highlighting national unity and ethical values, Tinubu revealed plans to unveil a National Values Charter and a national orientation campaign in early 2025 to promote patriotism and shared ideals.

“These reforms will succeed only if supported by shared values, common identities, and unconditional love for our country,” he emphasized.

The President also reiterated his commitment to youth development, announcing the inaugural Youth Conference in Q1 2025 as part of efforts to foster inclusiveness and nation-building.

Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s economic trajectory, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy and urged citizens to remain focused and united.

“Let us not be distracted by divisions based on politics, ethnicity, region, or religion,” he stated, thanking Nigerians for their sacrifices and support.

“As we enter 2025, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year filled with joy, success, and good health.

“By God’s grace, 2025 will be a year of great promise and fulfillment,” Tinubu concluded.
