The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has confirmed that the Nigerian government has submitted most of the required documentation for the extradition of Simon Ekpa from Finland.

Ekpa, a pro-Biafra activist and secessionist, was arrested by Finnish authorities on November 21 for allegedly disseminating terrorist propaganda on social media.

A district court in Päijät-Häme sentenced Ekpa to imprisonment following his arrest, underscoring the gravity of the charges against him and the security concerns surrounding his activities.

Speaking during Channels Television’s 2024 year-end review program, Gen. Musa expressed satisfaction with Ekpa’s arrest and hinted at impending legal actions.

“I’m sure he is cooling off somewhere. Legal action is going to be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say much about that, but I’m happy he has been arrested,” he remarked.

He further confirmed that most of the extradition requirements have been forwarded to the Finnish government, expressing confidence in the legal process.

The case highlights Nigeria’s efforts to address Biafran separatism and its collaboration with international partners to combat terrorism and ensure public safety.
