The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged fair compensation for residents affected by ongoing road construction projects in Abuja, assuring that all processes will adhere to due procedure.

Speaking during a project inspection on Monday at the Judges Quarters in Katampe District and access roads, including the RR1 and Shehu Shagari Expressway interchange, Wike reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness.

“Relocation and compensation will follow due process.

“We will ensure all affected residents are adequately compensated for any property acquired for these projects,” the minister stated.

He called for community support, emphasizing the benefits the projects will bring to the area.

“Imagine how it was and see how it is now. Once completed with streetlights and other amenities, it will significantly improve the community,” he added.

When asked to evaluate his tenure as FCT minister, Wike deferred, saying, “We have a presidential monitoring team to assess our performance.

“However, I am pleased with what has been achieved in the FCT so far.”

The road projects are part of the federal government’s broader agenda to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in the capital city.
