The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has declared Edward Ejembi Omaga, a lawyer and civil rights activist, wanted over allegations of defamation against Segun Agbaje, CEO of Guaranty Trust Holding Company PLC.
Omaga had accused Agbaje of misconduct at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Limited, prompting the NPF to invite him for questioning on October 10, 2024.
The police later issued a follow-up letter on October 25, citing his failure to comply as an impediment to their investigation into alleged defamation, cyberbullying, economic sabotage, and incitement of public disorder.
The NPF has urged anyone with information on Omaga’s whereabouts to contact local authorities, emphasizing the need for cooperation to advance the investigation.
This case highlights ongoing tensions between civil rights advocates and corporate institutions in Nigeria.
