The Edo State Government has vowed to compensate individuals and organizations affected by the unlawful acquisition or destruction of lands and properties under the previous administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Dr. Samson Osagie, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Edo State, made this announcement on Monday during a thank-you event in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, held to appreciate support for Governor Monday Okpebholo during the September 21, 2024, governorship election.

Osagie assured that Governor Okpebholo’s administration is committed to rectifying past injustices and restoring harmony in the state. “Those whose lands or properties were illegally taken or destroyed will be compensated. The governor is already addressing these wrongs to ensure justice and fairness,” he said.

He added that properties seized without compensation would either be returned or owners compensated. “No victim will be left unattended,” Osagie emphasized.

The Commissioner also noted that the Ministry of Justice would manage legal disputes to prevent disruptions to governance while ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the state.

The pledge highlights Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to justice and addressing grievances from past administrations.
