The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has announced plans to auction 15,325 litres of seized Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), at ₦400 per litre to alleviate transportation difficulties during the festive season.
Hussein Ejibunu, National Coordinator of the NCS Operation Whirlwind, revealed the initiative during a press briefing at the Customs Training College in Ikeja, Lagos.
The seized petrol, valued at ₦27.5 million, was confiscated during operations in Lagos and Ogun states.
Ejibunu stated that the auction, approved by Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, will price the fuel at ₦10,000 per 25-litre container.
“All legal requirements, including a court condemnation order, have been finalized to facilitate the auction,” Ejibunu confirmed.
Operation Whirlwind, which began on May 27, 2024, has reportedly disrupted economic sabotage activities.
Ejibunu emphasized that the Comptroller-General has directed operatives to sustain the momentum.
“The auction is part of efforts to ease festive transportation challenges and ensure seized resources benefit the public,” he added.
This move underscores the NCS’s commitment to curbing economic sabotage while providing relief to citizens during periods of high demand.
