The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Abia State has arrested Uche Royal (24) and Chidera Donatus (20) for alleged child trafficking and abduction in Aba.

The arrests, made on December 26, 2024, followed credible intelligence and led to the rescue of a three-year-old girl, Chiamaka Ahamefula, from Ukpaka Ukwu, Umuahia.

NSCDC spokesperson ASC Doreen Udugwu disclosed that Donatus, from Nenwe, Enugu State, and Royal, from Ohaji, Imo State, were apprehended during a joint operation.

Investigations revealed their connection to a child trafficking ring led by a fugitive known as Danji, who is believed to be operating in Aba.

Abia NSCDC Commandant Akinsola Aderemi reiterated the corps’ commitment to combating crime and confirmed the case will be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for prosecution upon investigation.

Udugwu urged parents to remain vigilant and ensure proper care of their children to prevent such incidents.
