Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated he has no regrets supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was appointed FCT Minister by Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
At a PDP thanksgiving service in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of Rivers State, Wike expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the ministerial appointment.
“I have no regrets, no apologies. If the opportunity comes again, I will do the same,” he said, recounting the threats he faced for supporting Tinubu.
Wike also dismissed allegations of land grabbing in Abuja as “baseless” and “laughable.”
He reiterated his responsibility for land management in the FCT and warned that individuals holding government land without proper process risk having their allocations revoked.
“As the person in charge of lands in Abuja, how can I grab what I control? The right thing must be done, regardless of propaganda,” he said.
Wike acknowledged the challenges of managing the FCT, emphasizing that the capital represents all Nigerians.
He reaffirmed his commitment to due process in land management, stating, “No matter the propaganda, the right thing must be done.”
