Jigawa Governor Loses Son 24 Hours After Mother’s Death

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has lost his eldest son, Abdulwahab, in a motor accident that occurred on Thursday, just one day after the death of his mother, Maryam Namadi, on Wednesday following a brief illness.

Reports indicate that Abdulwahab was involved in the accident while driving from Kafin Hausa to Dutse. The vehicle lost control and somersaulted.

Some of his friends are currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.

In a statement, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the tragic incident: “With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi.

The 24-year-old died on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in a motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road. Burial rites are underway in Kafin Hausa town in accordance with Islamic traditions.”

Abdulwahab is survived by his parents, Governor Namadi and his wife, as well as his siblings.

This tragedy follows the governor’s recent loss of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi.

The incident has left the state in shock, with residents offering condolences to the grieving family.
