Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has condemned the Christmas Day attack on Anwase community in Kwande Local Government Area, which left 11 residents dead.
The assault, reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen, disrupted festive celebrations and caused widespread grief.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the attack as heinous and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“The perpetrators of this act will face justice. They may think they are beyond reach, but their actions will not go unpunished,” the governor vowed.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and sympathized with the injured.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all affected families during this difficult time,” Alia stated, assuring them that the attackers would be brought to justice.
Governor Alia lamented the persistence of violence despite ongoing peace efforts in the state.
He reaffirmed his resolve to restore security and ensure a peaceful future for the people of Benue.
