The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Ekaete Fabian-Obot, has advised the newly appointed Chief Registrar, Affiong Usimkah, to prioritize diligence and integrity while avoiding office gossip.

Usimkah, appointed on December 23, 2024, succeeds Winifred Umohandi in the role.

Speaking on Friday in Uyo, Justice Fabian-Obot commended Usimkah for her humility, grace, and strong work ethic, qualities that distinguished her during the rigorous selection process.

“In her, I found humility and grace, combined with the potential for hard work,” the Chief Judge remarked.

Justice Fabian-Obot urged Usimkah to seek guidance from her predecessor and to report administrative issues directly to her.

“You must not listen to unnecessary gossip,” she cautioned, while advising Usimkah to remain attentive and cautious in her duties.

Reflecting on the transition, the Chief Judge expressed nostalgia for the outgoing registrar, describing her tenure as “glorious.”

Born on December 9, 1979, in Mbo Local Government Area, Usimkah holds a law degree from the University of Uyo.

She was called to the Bar in 2005 and began her judicial career in 2011.

Rising steadily through the ranks, she served as Chief Magistrate at the Abak Chief Magistrate’s Court before her recent appointment as Chief Registrar.
