Leaders of the Holy Ghost Park Enugu drivers’ union have appealed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to provide hire-purchase Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), vehicles for its members.
They also requested special privileges at NNPCL retail stations across Enugu State to ease their operations.
The demands were made during the ongoing NNPCL sensitization programme, ‘NNPC & You’, held in the state as part of the company’s stakeholder engagement initiative to improve services nationwide.
Stakeholders from major parks, including Holy Ghost Park, Gariki Park, Oye Emene Park, Entraco Park, and Abakpa Park, raised various concerns and suggestions aimed at enhancing NNPCL services for commercial drivers.
At Holy Ghost Park, drivers called for dedicated fuel tanks for commercial vehicles to reduce wait times at NNPCL retail stations.
Similarly, stakeholders at National Union Park highlighted the limited presence of NNPCL outlets in the state and requested new stations to address the issue.
Entraco Park operators expressed interest in converting their buses to CNG but sought practical demonstrations of its efficiency.
They also criticized NNPCL stations for prioritizing external customers over commercial drivers and refusing to sell fuel in gallons.
NNPCL representatives acknowledged the feedback and assured stakeholders of their commitment to resolving the issues raised.
They emphasized the company’s dedication to providing efficient services to all customers, particularly commercial drivers and park operators.
The sensitization programme also featured presentations on safe fuel usage and adherence to safety protocols.
Attendees, including drivers and commuters, received gift items and freebies during raffle draws held at various parks.
