The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has given 762 landowners in Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja, until January 3, 2025, to settle their outstanding Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O), payments or face permanent revocation of their allocations.
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, clarified that the government’s aim is not to dispossess landowners but to enforce payment compliance.
Of the 3,273 allottees initially notified on October 5, 2024, for non-payment, 2,511 have complied, leaving 762 defaulters.
An additional 614 allottees with pending C-of-O bills have also been granted the same deadline following requests for an extension.
“After January 3, there will be no further extensions, and Right of Occupancy (R-of-O), titles will be permanently revoked,” the statement warned, citing the Land Use Act of 1978.
The FCTA emphasized that timely payments are essential to fund infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory.
