The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has approved the construction of two multi-purpose sports centers in Abuja, reaffirming its commitment to youth development and citizen well-being under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking after the 11th FCT Executive Council meeting, Engr. Richard Daudu, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), revealed the plans for the facilities, which will feature football pitches, lawn tennis and table tennis courts, indoor sports arenas, and other amenities.
“These centers will promote physical and mental well-being, especially for young people, and will be accessible to all citizens,” Daudu stated.
Addressing the issue of land revocation in Maitama Cadastral Zone A10 District, Daudu explained that the FCTA had issued adequate notices to allottees who failed to pay Certificates of Occupancy (C of O), fees. While some complied, others did not, leading to the withdrawal of titles.
In response, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike extended the payment deadline to January 3, 2025, stressing the importance of these funds for infrastructure development.
Daudu urged defaulters to settle their obligations, noting that complaints about inadequate infrastructure cannot be addressed without their financial contributions.
“The minister’s actions are in the best interest of the public and overall development,” Daudu concluded.
