The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has confiscated unregistered food products valued at over ₦3.8 billion during a raid at a warehouse in Apongbon Oke Arin Market, Lagos.

The operation, led by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, followed a tip-off about the facility’s illegal activities.

The warehouse has been sealed, and its management summoned for questioning.

In a statement shared on its official X handle, NAFDAC emphasized its commitment to public health and vowed to impose sanctions on those responsible.

The agency also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant during the festive season and report suspicious activities to nearby NAFDAC offices.

This seizure follows recent enforcement activities in Karu, Nasarawa State, where NAFDAC shut down eight rice shops and a warehouse.

Operations extended to Wuse and Garki markets in Abuja, resulting in the confiscation of over 1,600 bags of counterfeit rice worth approximately ₦5 billion.

NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has directed stricter enforcement to ensure only safe and quality food products are available to Nigerians.

The agency uncovered a facility repackaging substandard rice brands, including Bull 25kg, Stallion 10kg, and Tomatoes 25kg, behind a residential house in a nighttime operation.

NAFDAC also destroyed unhealthy products valued at ₦11 billion in Ibadan as part of its broader mission to eliminate substandard, fake, and counterfeit goods.

Prof. Adeyeye stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration to safeguard public health and protect Nigerians from harmful products.
