The Federal Government has unveiled plans to support 15 million households, representing 75 million Nigerians, through a conditional cash transfer scheme.
Each household will receive ₦25,000 monthly, disbursed three times a year, to alleviate economic hardship among vulnerable citizens.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Nentawe Yilwatda Yilwatda, announced the initiative on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
He highlighted the program as part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to ease financial challenges for low-income Nigerians.
“The president was clear about addressing the challenges faced by those at the lower end of the economic pyramid.
This initiative targets 15 million households registered under the conditional cash transfer program,” Yilwatda said.
The minister noted that 5 million individuals have already benefited from the scheme, with efforts underway to update the social register.
Initially suspended in January due to corruption allegations, the program was relaunched in February to expand its reach by an additional 12 million households.
This initiative forms part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to tackle economic challenges and improve the livelihoods of Nigeria’s most vulnerable citizens.
