The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure Abuja remains safe for residents during the yuletide season.
Speaking at an FCT Security Committee meeting on Friday, Wike emphasized the need for proactive measures to secure lives and property, allowing residents to enjoy the festive period without fear.
He commended the agencies for their efforts but stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance.
“Criminals often attempt to disrupt festivities, but I trust we are prepared to ensure safety.
Abuja residents must sleep peacefully and conduct their businesses without worry,” Wike stated.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu, assured residents of heightened security operations, including joint patrols by all security agencies and clearance operations in identified areas.
Disu highlighted collaboration with neighboring states and enhanced surveillance with support from the Nigerian Air Force.
He urged residents not to panic at the increased presence of security personnel and encouraged them to report suspicious activities.
