The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Board has promoted 4,291 senior officers and confirmed the appointments of one Deputy Comptroller General (DCG), and seven Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs).
The promotions and appointments, announced on Friday by NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada, aim to fill management vacancies and reward exceptional performance.
The confirmed appointments include DCG S. Chiroma (North-East), and ACGs ZM Gaji (North-East), OA Adebakin (South-West), GM Omale (North-Central), MS Yusuf (North-Central), DA Nnadi (South-East), HK Ejibunu (North-Central), and D Hassan (North-East).
The statement emphasized that the new appointments address vacancies created by retirements and align with the Service’s commitment to inclusivity, institutional balance, and the Federal Character Policy under the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The promotions span several ranks, with officers elevated from Deputy Comptroller to Comptroller of Customs, Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller, and other significant advancements across the hierarchy.
The NCS also recognized outstanding contributions by granting special promotions to 16 officers, while a posthumous promotion was approved for the late Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Etop Andrew Essien, who passed away in June 2024.
Additionally, the Board extended the service of key officers, including Assistant Comptrollers-General B. Imam, IG Umar, and KC Egwu, as well as Comptrollers F. Abdulqadri, MT Awe, and OF Ojiefor.
Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi praised the promoted and appointed officers for their dedication and urged them to continue upholding the Service’s standards while striving for excellence in their roles.
