The death toll from the tragic stampede at a children’s funfair in Ibadan has risen to 35, with six others critically injured, according to the Oyo State Police Command.
Speaking during a live radio interview monitored by Blueprint, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the updated figures and revealed that seven suspects, including the principal organizer of the event, are now in police custody.
“I can categorically confirm that 35 deaths have been recorded, with six others in critical condition,” Osifeso stated.
The PPRO assured the public that investigations into the incident are ongoing and vowed to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
