The Kano State Government has officially launched its Anti-Corruption Strategy (2024–2028), aimed at combating corruption and promoting integrity across the state.
The strategy was unveiled on Wednesday at an event supported by the European Union-funded Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC), Programme Phase II, implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).
Coinciding with the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day, which focused on the theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” the event emphasized the role of young people in driving change in the fight against corruption.
Governor Abba Yusuf, in his address, described corruption as a “cancer” that erodes trust, weakens institutions, and stifles development.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human rights, transparency in public spending, and tackling systemic corruption.
The event featured debates, awareness campaigns, and discussions aimed at fostering collaboration among anti-corruption agencies, civil society organizations, the media, and the private sector.
Ibrahim Bello, RoLAC State Coordinator, highlighted the European Union’s ongoing support for Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
He commended Governor Yusuf’s reform-focused leadership and emphasized the importance of collective action in promoting good governance and accountability.
